Shooting From mechanics to finishing, we develop a complete shooting arsenal.

Defensive Training

Footwork Defense starts from the ground up. Every rep is built on proper movement.

  • Defensive shuffle & drop step mechanics

  • Closing speed & angle of approach

  • Recovery footwork after being beaten

  • Footwork under pressure & in tight spaces

  • Hip rotation & staying connected to your man

Checks We teach controlled, aggressive stick work that disrupts without fouling.

  • Poke check timing & placement

  • Slap check & lift check mechanics

  • Wrap check & controlled contact

  • Check discipline — knowing when NOT to check

  • Strip checks & dislodging the ball

Approaches How you take away the ball carrier before contact is half the battle.

  • Angle of approach — taking away the dominant hand

  • High-to-low approach & staying low

  • Closing on the ball carrier without overcommitting

  • Staying patient — not biting on fakes

  • Approach adjustments by position (on-ball defender vs. helping defender)

On-Ball Positioning Controlling space, tempo, and the direction of the play.

  • Body positioning & stance fundamentals

  • Forcing the dodger where you want them to go

  • Staying between your man and the cage

  • Playing the hands vs. playing the hips

  • Holding ground at the crease

Off-Ball Positioning Where great defenses are actually built — when you don't have the ball.

Game IQ Understanding defensive systems and making smart decisions in real time.

​Edge Academy is built for any player who wants to get better. Whether your athlete is just picking up a stick for the first time or preparing for a college recruiting showcase, we have a place for you.

By Age

  • Youth (Grades 3–5) — Building the fundamentals early. Stick skills, footwork, and a love for the game.

  • Middle School (Grades 6–8) — The most important developmental window in lacrosse. We accelerate skill, build IQ, and prepare athletes for the jump to high school ball.

  • High School (Grades 9–12) — Position-specific training, advanced concepts, and competitive reps for players chasing varsity time, all-league recognition, or a college roster spot.

  • Post-Grad & College — Serious training for players who want to compete at the next level or stay sharp in the off-season.

 

By Skill Level

  • Beginners — No experience needed. We start with the basics and build a real foundation the right way.

  • Developing Players — You know the game but want to get sharper. We identify the gaps and fix them.

  • Advanced Players — You're already competing at a high level. We push you further with elite-level concepts and high-intensity reps.

What to Expect at Your First Session

No tryout. No intimidation. Show up ready to work. Your first session will include an individual assessment so we understand exactly where you are and where we need to take you. From there, every rep has a purpose.

What We Are Not

We are not a rec league or club program. We are not a babysitting service. Edge Academy is for athletes and families who are serious about development and willing to put in the work. If that's you — you're in the right place.

Where We Train Orange County, CA. Specific facility details are shared directly with registered athletes and families.

When We Train Sessions run year-round on weeknights and weekends — always outside of normal team practice hours. That's the Edge.

​

Private & Group Options We offer both small and large group sessions and one-on-one private training. All options are discussed during the follow-up after you register.
